History and Development
Cagley & Associates, founded in 1973, as Martin & Cagley, a partnership between John A. Martin & Associates, Inc. and James R. Cagley, has engaged solely in the practice of consulting structural engineering since its inception. In 1985, the firm became Cagley & Associates with James R. Cagley serving as managing principal. In 2006, the ownership transition plan that was set into motion in 2002 was completed and James R. Cagley sold his remaining interest in the firm to Debrethann R. Cagley Orsak, Daniel Camp and Frank S. Malits.
The firm provides services covering all phases of structural engineering.

The firm provides services covering all phases of structural engineering.
These services include studies of structural systems in the conceptual stage, preliminary design and cost estimates, final design and working drawings, specifications, and general on-site observation of the structural work throughout the construction phase. Our services also include progressive collapse analysis, structural reviews, evaluations of existing buildings and proposed project evaluations.
A multi-capacity organization with diversified capabilities, the firm also specializes in seismic design, computer applications, forensic engineering and peer reviews.
The firm is active in design/build projects and has developed an expertise in the rehabilitation of parking structures.
Our capabilities also include evaluation and structural design to mitigate progressive collapse and resist blast effects, in accordance with current GSA and DOD guidelines, for both new and existing structures.
